Senior Consultant; RSA Interims UK

As part of our ongoing expansion, we are now looking to recruit an additional senior consultant to work within this fast growing operation in the UK.

Main purposes of the job

  • To contribute to the RSA Interims team in the task of building the Interim Management business by finding & winning client assignments; finding & placing high quality candidates and contributing, in any way necessary, to the general growth and efficient operation of the group.
  • To foster, develop and improve the professional standing of RSA Interims in the eyes of clients, candidates and contacts.
  • To maintain and develop personal readiness & skills, and those of colleagues, in support of the above.

Job description and some typical activities

Contributes to the RSA Interims team in the task of building the Interim Management business by finding & winning client assignments; finding & placing high quality candidates and contributing, in any way necessary, to the general growth and efficient operation of the group, by for example:

  • Working independently to win new assignments by finding and maintaining new contacts in the marketplace as well as cultivating established contacts with minimal need to defer to the Interims Manager/Director for advice and guidance
  • Finding candidates for Client assignments through database searches, telephone contacts and general research
  • Discussing assignments with Candidates and establishing availability and general interest in the opportunity
  • Discussing and, where appropriate, writing assignment briefs with Clients to be placed on websites. Gaining clients approval and setting up the appropriate processes.
  • Reviewing incoming CVs and Candidate applications from various sources including advertising, websites and unsolicited
  • Conducting interviews, writing reports and organising appropriate follow-up actions/correspondence
  • Ensuring that all relevant information is captured and incorporated in RSA Exec in line with RSA processes
  • Contributing to Client satisfaction and ensuring that the Quality process is followed for each assignment
  • Contributing to newsletters and other mechanisms designed to keep both the Candidate and the Client base informed and satisfied with RSA services
  • Discuss and negotiate daily rates and other financial arrangements between the interim candidate(s) and the client company
  • Arranging timely billing of fees and other expenses to Clients and ensuring timely payment of Interim Managers for completed work
  • Will be the main point of contact with the client
  • Will carry out extensive Business Development activity – main focus will be on the delivery of assignments from existing clients and assignments won through their own business development activity
  • Will mentor trainee Interim Consultants
  • Develop and pass leads to Search and Contingency Consultants
  • Will be recognised both internally and externally as an expert in Interim Management.

Fosters, develops and improves the professional standing of RSA Interims in the eyes of clients, candidates and contacts by, for example:

  • Creating and developing relationships of trust, mutual respect and confidence with candidates, clients and other contacts
  • Dealing promptly, courteously, ethically and efficiently with candidates and clients who phone, visit or write
  • Treating support staff, visitors, suppliers and contacts of the business as if they were candidates or clients
  • Promoting all Practices of the business in line with its ethical stance
  • Supporting the provision of seamless service to clients and candidates, especially by ensuring that progress information on personal assignments and projects is easily accessible to colleagues
  • Supporting the work of colleagues; providing leadership where appropriate
  • Managing own and colleagues’ time effectively
  • Helping to maintain a safe and healthy - and as far as possible interruption free - working environment for self and colleagues
  • Attending external meetings, conferences and events in order to promote RSA Interims and the whole range of RSA group services.

Maintains and develops personal readiness and skills, and those of colleagues, in support of the business, for example by:

  • Maintaining personal expertise and knowledge in delegated sectors and about the pharma/biotech/related industries in general
  • Guiding, training and informing colleagues - particularly in the Research area - on developments in the delegated sectors which are, or may be, of interest/potential value to the business, e.g. by providing input to the client, candidate and networker databases or material for company files
  • Learning enough about colleagues’ assignments to be able to help clients and candidates when colleagues are unavailable
  • Maximising personal skills in the use of voice, speech, self-expression (written and verbal) and social adaptation
  • Optimising dress, grooming and professional self-presentation
  • Developing basic office skills to an appropriate level.

Key Performance Measures

  • Billing exceeds break-even to an extent which supports team and personal bonuses and salary growth over time
  • Positive feedback from Goldsmith quality surveys
  • Repeat assignments from existing clients
  • New assignments from targeted potential clients
  • Unsolicited new business following word-of-mouth recommendations
  • Ratio of compliments to complaints from candidates, clients, contacts and colleagues
  • The ability to achieve an annual personal billing target of £400,000 Margin.
