15th International Conference on Pharmaceutical Medicine
7th to 10th September at the Hotel Okura, Amsterdam

Pharmaceutical R&D and medical affairs are the initial concepts behind pharmaceutical medicine. This conference has a faculty of more than 40 industrial and academic executives discussing the real highlights on all the key topics of their daily work. It's an opportunity to get expert-to-expert briefings on the critical issues of our pharmaceutical business.

There will be a state-of-the-art scientific program which will give the opportunity to follow different executive classes on medical statistics about non-interventional studies and risk-benefit analyses, and there will be a short course covering want you want to know about media interactions. The International Conference on Pharmaceutical Medicine is organized every two years by the International Federation of Associations of Pharmaceutical Physicians.

ABPI R&D Conference
13th and 14th October in Cambridge, England

RSA will be sponsoring the ABPI Annual R&D conference on 13 and 14 October 2008, at Hinxton Hall in Cambridgeshire (the Wellcome Trust's Genome Campus Conference Centre).

The meeting brings together around a hundred leading R&D experts from across the industry, including pharmaceutical, biopharmaceutical and contract research organisations. The meeting provides an opportunity to share developments in the UK environment and focus on key opportunities from emerging science and enabling technologies.

There are three themes for the conference:

  • UK competitiveness - including the launch of ABPI's updated skills report , mapping out changes in skills demand since our first report in 2005 ( Sustaining the skills pipeline in the pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical industry) and looking at progress against the thirteen recommendations laid down. The meeting will also, review ABPI R&D priorities, actions over the past year and look forward for the next 12 to 18 months.
  • ABPI Annual R&D Lecture - this year Dr John Patterson, Executive Director Development for AstraZeneca, will give the lecture late afternoon on the 13th October.
  • Science and Technology challenges - showcase the key industry priorities in emerging science and enabling technologies to engender partnership and collaboration between UK universities and industry.

Bench2Boardroom
15 October in Cambridge, England

Bench2Boardroom 2008 will address a wide range of biotech and medtech topics with a theme of Personalised Medicine. General topics in research, HR, IP, IT, finance, operations and business development will also be addressed. With over 500 delegates, 80 exhibiting companies, a full day of presentations and 40 round table workshops, Bench2Boardroom is time well spent in the UK, in the heart of Europe's largest biotech cluster.

2nd Global QA Conference
27 to 31 October in Edinburgh, Scotland

The 2nd Global QA Conference is being hosted by BARQA. The Conference Programme will be stimulating and informative, there are also four Pre-Conference Training Courses available, taking place on Monday 27th and Tuesday 28th October at the Edinburgh Training Centre. The title for the Conference is 'The Route to Enlightenment' and delegates, who will be drawn from around the world, will experience a programme of topical presentations and workshops organised by a programme committee of top industry experts.
