Robert Bates

Robert joined RSA in April 2004 as Managing Director of RSA Consulting GmbH.

Robert has managed staffs large and small in his Life Sciences career and brings to RSA a search experience from the board level down to mid-managers in all areas of business operations. His international experience has allowed him to develop cultural sensitivities beyond the norm and his General Management responsibilities have provided him a full understanding of business operations and functional requirements to aid in his search work.

Robert began his professional career with 15 years at Baxter, first in R&D for blood products and eventually becoming European Manager for the Fenwal Blood Products Division.

After his Baxter career he worked as a General Manager Benelux/UK with Swiss based Pharma company, and then Director of Marketing for Cordis Europe in Brussels before moving to Switzerland as Director of Business Development for Bieffe Medital in Lugano. Then to Germany in 1995 as Director of International Marketing and Corporate Development at Fresenius AG Dialysis Division in Frankfurt and headed a merger team to create Fresenius Medical Care.

Robert became a Life Sciences executive search consultant in 1997 in Brussels and moved to Frankfurt as Managing Consultant in 1999 to establish new offices for his firm and became Managing Director in 2000. Robert has lived and worked in Europe since 1985 in Belgium, the UK, Switzerland and since 1995 in Germany; before that he lived in Washington DC, Chicago and Tokyo.

Robert is a graduate of the University of Iowa with a Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology and Biology.
