Susan Macdonald, BA (Hons)

Upon completion of her Bachelor of Arts in Nursing Studies, Susan began her career working as a Staff Nurse in Glasgow before joining the Pharmaceutical Industry in 1988 as a Medical Sales Representative with Tillotts Laboratories.

Over the next seventeen years, she worked for Farmitalia Carlo Erba and Pharmacia (now Pfizer) and IVAX (now TEVA) in commercial sales, marketing and project management roles that encompassed branded, generic, VMS and parallel import products. At IVAX Pharmaceuticals UK Limited, Susan worked in Business Development. Her role encompassed all aspects of in and out-licensing. This work also included late Product Life Cycle Management within the UK and wider European arena. During this time, Susan was a committee member of the UK Pharma Licensing Group and she maintains her strong links with the licensing community today.

Susan joined RSA Executive Search in 2005 as a Consultant and was promoted in 2006 to Sales and Marketing Practice Leader. Over the next three years, Susan undertook Global and pan European Executive Searches for a client base that included Top 10 global and small to mid size Pharmaceutical companies, Medical Device companies, CROs, Orphan Drug Companies, Biosimilar and Generic companies.

In January 2009, Susan was again promoted and moved to Shanghai to set up a joint venture executive search firm between RSA Executive Search and Foster Partners in China. Having completed this new joint venture, Susan returned to RSA Executive Search in Europe where she most recently served as the firm’s UK General Management Practice Leader.

Susan enjoys reading, skiing, running and dining out with her husband and friends. In 2008 she successfully completed the London Marathon, The Berlin Marathon and the Great North Run, (the world's biggest half marathon). She ran the London Marathon in 2010 raising funds to support Beating Bowel Cancer and will again be running for this charity in the Great North Run in September 2010.

Susan is now Managing Director of RSA Singapore. In this role she is leading the existing team and building on their success to date whilst continuing to develop new and innovative recruitment solutions for our clients and candidates in Asia Pacific.
