"Willingness to Innovate" Test
Innovation is primarily a product of creativity but can it be measured scientifically and therefore improved? Every innovation starts with an idea in the inventor’s mind but even the most creative mind needs considerable energy, motivation and enthusiasm to bring his or her idea to life. An employee’s willingness to innovate sets the course for the crucial step: putting them into practice. Therefore organisations need to monitor their employees’ willingness to innovate on a regular basis to prevent their most eminent innovations from being blocked in the very first stages of the process.

The Willingness to Innovate Test (WIT) helps organisations to develop and monitor the talent they have in order to continuously achieve outstanding results. RSA acknowledges that in order to be successful it is critical to identify not only those employees who are willing to go the extra mile and develop them to their full potential; but also to know where R&D teams are in relation to each other and to develop all teams to their full potential. Identification of under-performing teams and targeted interventions are critical to success.
Willingness to innovate is one of the most sensitive extra-role-performances of employees. Therefore it is amongst the first performance parameters which will diminish if the working conditions deteriorate – for example; team climate or the relationship with a supervisor changing for the worse, recent project failure or uncertainty due to a restructuring processes.
To allow carefully targeted interventions in order to improve or keep up your employees’ willingness to innovate, we have designed a specialised, scientifically proven tool set that can detect the status of teams or even screen an entire organisation very economically e.g. in times of change or as a part of a systematic personal development programme.
Using the WIT not only benchmarks an organisation to control the immediate risk of losing money in R&D projects but it also enables a management team to ensure that the full potential of all of their employees is achieved in the longer term.
- To evaluate the current status of predefined teams and units and identify the units with the highest need for a quick intervention
- To identify possible causes for low willingness to innovate by further diagnosis applying scientifically proven psychometric tools and in-depth workshops
- To provide a clear strategy to improve or keep up your employee’s willingness to innovate including concrete recommendations for interventions
- To evaluate the success of the interventions by additional testing and trend analysis.
