Our client:

Supporting the Carlyle and Palamon-backed IDH Group, a fully integrated dental services company, with annual sales of circa £600m and more than 7,000 employees and associates. The business had grown through extraordinary levels of M&A, bringing together multiple small and larger entrepreneurial businesses, often with less than perfect integration. Recruitment was extremely challenging and quality was suffering. The new CEO was looking for a step up in leadership capability at c-suite and C-1, and to bring a combination of B2C and B2B experience.


The challenge:

Having placed a Managing Director for the whole MyDentist division and run a process to benchmark Clinical Director candidates, RSA was engaged to identify two additional GMs with highly operational backgrounds. Undertook an extensive talent map of the UK multi-site operations landscape, covering multiple B2C sectors, including private pay healthcare, multi-site leisure and hospitality, and other service-led multi-site consumer businesses. Identified candidates from a broad spectrum of backgrounds, before interviewing and assessing for experience, behaviours, and motivations.


How our approach made a difference:

Placed Steve Melton, former CEO of Circle Health, as CEO MyDentist. Geoff Liyanage, formerly of The Pets at Home Vet Group as Director South East, and Michelle Shambrook formerly of Costa Coffee as Director of Orthodontics. The business has recently exited to a new consortium having improved overall operating margin and grown the Ortho business from scratch to £1m pcw.
