Senior Advisory Board Member at HealthCare Royalty Partners
Our client:
HealthCare Royalty Partners (HCR) is an investment firm that purchases royalties and uses debt-like structures to invest in commercial or near-commercial stage BioPharmaceutical assets.
The Firm has approximately $5.5 billion in cumulative capital commitments and has offices in San Francisco, Boston, Stamford and London. HCR specialises in making innovative, structured investments in commercial-stage healthcare companies and products across a broad range of therapeutic areas around the globe.
The challenge:
Following establishment of an office in London, HCR made the strategic decision to invest a significant proportion of its fourth fund in European opportunities. HCR’s world-class list of investors includes public and corporate pension funds, sovereign wealth funds, financial institutions, insurance companies and university endowments.
A seasoned executive able to act as a Senior Advisory Board member was needed by HCR to provide high level advice on the complexities of the European market, significant experience and expertise in successful broad product commercialisation, ideally within multiple organisations, and an understanding of the macro environment affecting the pharmaceutical industry together with a deep network in the global industry.
How our approach made a difference:
This was a highly sensitive search that required absolute confidentiality and a high-level network of contacts. The seniority of this position and the skills and experience required made the number of potential candidates relatively small and in great demand. For the long list we characterised the skills, experience and attitude of the candidates before approaching just seven people using our proprietary methodology for remote assessment. We then adopted an iterative, customised approach before entering discussions with five people before the final selection and appointment of an individual with an unrivalled reputation was made.
